Security Check

Do you feel safe in the arms of the Father?

But, do you actually feel safe in the arms of the Father?

Do you believe that he will actually catch you when you fall? Will He be there to extend grace when you mess up? Is He really a good and faithful God?

Trust me, I have been there. Asking the same questions and holding the same doubts. Even to the point of actually realizing I deep down did not believe the Lord to be faithful and I didn’t trust him to catch me when I fell.

Let me tell you something, when you are trying to have a close relationship with someone and you don’t trust them it doesn’t work well. Intimacy comes with trust and vulnerability, but why would anyone be vulnerable with someone they don’t trust?

Think about the Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. This is a triangle of the scientific needs of humans. If you don’t have the first need than you cannot successfully move up the pyramid to better things or living a more enjoyable life. Similarly, our relationship with God is the exact same. If you don’t believe him to be God or to have died for your sins than you can’t move on to seeing him as Lord of your life. If you don’t trust him to be faithful and your protector, then how will you ever release control and walk in trust of what he has for your life.

You cannot. Period.

That’s where I was and I will make a bold prediction and say thats where a lot of Christians get stuck. Yes, we believe in God, but we aren’t willing to trust him to actually hold us, so we get stuck and grow stagnant. Staying in this awkward dance of trying to love the Lord and live the way he calls us to, but clenching onto every false idea of control for dear life.

But, I have good news!! There is freedom! There is deeper intimacy and God is knocking at the door of your heart, asking you to step into it if your willing. To take the leap of faith and see that he will catch you.

I feel like there is someone reading this blog who is deeply desiring to actually believe the Lord is faithful and to deeply trust him. If that is you, I want you to know, you are not alone. I have been right where you are right now and I would love to pray with you right now.

Dear God, thank you for loving your people so deeply. Thank you that you are not satisfied with us just believing in you, but you desire a deep, intimate relationship with us. I pray right now that you would show your people that you are faithful. That you would meet each person right where they are and show them that they are secure in your arms and you will provide for them and guide them through whatever is to come. Thank you Lord!

In Jesus name, Amen

Thank you Jesus for being our security!

With love,
