Hope 4 Kids:
Even from outside of the four green and blue walls that encapsulate the Hope 4 Kids Feeding Center pure joy and laughter can so clearly be heard. Each and every smile on each of the kids faces lights up the room just a little more. It doesn’t matter that the space is small or that it is dimly lit, there is such a brightness of joy present.
Over the last month and a half, my team and I have had the pleasure of getting to partner with Myra and Manuel and their feeding center, Hope 4 Kids. This ministry has been such a long time dream of their hearts. It is easy to see how passionate they are about getting to be apart of feeding and loving on these children.
Manuel shared with our team how both himself and Myra grew up in a children’s home (orphanage) just a few miles from the village this feeding center is located in. He shared how much this children’s home helped him and gave him a firm foundation in the Lord as well as a very loving home to grow up in.
Manuel and Myra have seen the direct impact of programs that take care of children in their times of need and want to give back because of all they have been given.
A few months back they had a sponsor who was excited to partner with them in this vision and the ministry was born. Twenty local children, who had the most need, were invited to come and be apart of a daily feeding program that not only provided them with free nutritious meals, but a safe place to spend the day while their caretaker or parents were at work.
Unfortunately, about a month into the ministry, they lost their sponsor and have been trying to continue running this program on their own incomes. Through this, they had to go down to only holding the feeding center Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. About three weeks into our time in Guatemala, we found out the Myra was no longer able to run the feeding center as she had to go back to work. We were heartbroken and so were the kids to find out the ministry would most likely be ending.
My team’s immediate reaction was how can we fix this? How do we save the ministry?
We were quickly reminded that we are not called to be the saviors of the ministry, Jesus is the one and only Savior. It is not our job to try and save what is happening, but we get to ask the Lord what it looks like to partner with him in this situation. God knew this was going to happen, we just get to rest in knowing that whatever happens, he is in control.
In doing that, we as a team felt the Lord opening the door for us to help fund raise for this ministry! With that in mind, I wanted to take a moment to share about this ministry with you guys, my supporters. Just like we were reminded that we aren’t the saviors of this ministry, I want to remind you that you are not the savior of this ministry. Whether this ministry continues in the future or not, God is taking care of and providing for these children.
My question to you is: What role is the Lord asking you to have in this situation? Is he asking you to partner with him in prayer for these children and that they would continue to be provided for? Is he asking you to partner with them through a one-time or monthly donation?
I can’t answer that for you, but I deeply and intimately know the one who can! He desires to hear your voice and show you where he is working so you can partner with him.
One of the families we get to love on through the feeding program! Four of
the seven children attend the feeding program so that they are not home
alone while their older siblings work.
The feeding program provides a safe place for the children to play, learn about Jesus, and be taught English!
These kids always show up all smiles and ready to play, learn, and receive a nutritious meal!

It’s wisdom to know that you can’t swoop in and save the day, that God is the one who provides.
Thank you for taking us about these wonderful people and thier desire to be used for the Kingdom. I am praying for them, also that we who read this blog would clear our busy cluttered American minds and hearts and listen to Jesus’.
In the long run, it is the Lord who will keep the doors of Hour 4 Kids open.
Miss you
See you SOON!!
